“Real estate development continues to be a force in Kansas City,” declares the Kansas City Business Journal, as it honors 30 local outstanding real estate and development projects completed in 2019.

Copaken Brooks is proud to have two winners on the list: The District at City Center Lenexa (a winner in the Mixed-Use category) and Arterra (a winner in the Multifamily category).

Arterra is a 12-story luxury residential tower that is the first high-rise apartment project to be built in the Crossroads Arts District area of downtown Kansas City. The project is being jointly developed by Altus Properties, of St. Louis, and Copaken Brooks. Located at 21st and Wyandotte Streets, Arterra, which means “art of the earth,” was designed to integrate into the historic Crossroads skyline while also creating a new visual beacon for the District.

From a concept dating to 1997 with the city of Lenexa’s Vision 2020 planning document, The District at City Center Lenexa is the heart of the city’s “new downtown” and the next generation of suburban mixed-use. A forward-thinking mixed-use addition to City Center Lenexa, The District adds 301,312 square feet of ground floor retail and restaurant space with three multistory office buildings and 175 high end apartment units. Located in the heart of City Center Lenexa, this new urban environment offers the community a unique and integrated walkable downtown experience with public spaces to animate city life. The new mixed-use complex is broken up into 2 separate building blocks, each with its own internal parking garage, together they span a quarter mile centered around City Center Drive offering a true live / work / play experience.
