Katie joined Copaken Brooks in 2025, where she serves as Property Controller. A results-driven accounting professional with more than 12 years of experience in real estate financials and audit services, Katie brings deep expertise in financial reporting, GAAP compliance, internal controls, and team leadership.

At Copaken Brooks, Katie oversees all aspects of financial reporting and accounting for a diverse portfolio of approximately 40 properties. She serves as a key liaison for property owners, investors, and external partners—ensuring timely, accurate, and transparent financial information. Her responsibilities include reviewing monthly financials, preparing annual budgets, conducting cash flow analysis, and managing quarterly investor reporting. She also plays a central role in compliance functions, including CAM reconciliations, capital calls and distributions, and debt and tax reporting.

Katie collaborates closely with construction and development teams to support project-level accounting and brings strategic insight to long-term forecasting and investment analysis. Her focus on process improvement and operational efficiency helps deliver consistent, high-quality reporting across all property types.

Before joining Copaken Brooks, Katie spent over a decade at RED Development, where she led consolidated financial reporting, advanced reporting technologies, and integrated new accounting standards across a complex real estate portfolio. She began her career at KPMG as a Senior Audit Associate, auditing firms across multiple sectors and building a strong foundation in financial compliance and client service.

Katie holds a Master’s in Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kansas State University, with dual minors in Leadership Studies and Spanish. She is a licensed CPA in both Kansas and Missouri.
