Dane joined Copaken Brooks in 2017 as a member of the acquisitions team and is responsible for working through all phases of the transaction process. This includes screening investment opportunities, market analysis, financial analysis, financial modeling, and due diligence. Additionally, he works on financial models and analysis for the development team. Since joining the firm, Dane has become proficient in communicating deal economics and risks for both acquisition and development projects.
Prior to joining Copaken Brooks, Dane worked as a private equity real estate analyst at Mariner Real Estate Management, LLC for more than four years. During that time, the firm’s AUM grew from under $500 million to over $1 billion. His primary role was underwriting distressed loan portfolio and property transactions for opportunistic real estate funds. He took over credit committee and fund management responsibilities for a conduit loan program that originated $900 million of volume for CMBS execution. Furthermore, Dane lead hospitality sector research and drafted the private placement memorandum for a $100 million private equity fund targeting select services hotels in the western half of the US.
Dane holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with additional emphasis in Sport Management and Business from the University of Kansas.
